GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH CONGREGATION
COUNCIL MINUTES – DATE: DECEMBER 11, 2011

Members Present: Nancy Tibbett, Pastor Peter Ruggles, Debbie Appleyard, Deb Stein, Steve Bartsch, Farrah Uphoff, Tammy Neumann, Michelle Stuttgen, Matt Berrier

CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order by Steve Bartsch at 11:51 am.


OPENING PRAYER
Opening prayer was said by Pastor Ruggles.

MINUTES – November 13, 2011

Minutes will be distributed via email and a vote will be taken at that time.


TREASURERS REPORT for the month ending November 30, 2011

Balance Sheet – The checking account balance, which includes all of the Fund Balances, decreased by $14,071 to $41,017. Regular payroll withholdings for the month.

General Fund - Balance is $14,086, a decrease of $1,395. Receipts were $10,841 and expenses were $12,236 resulting in a negative $1,395 for the month. Credits of $253 were applied for returned purchases.

Building Fund – Balance is $4,605, a decrease of $9,646. Contributions were $2,725 compared to $3,167 last November. The loan payment allocation was $1,136 Interest Expense and $1,235 Principal. A $10,000 prepayment on principal was made on November 17, 21. YTD Interest is $12,754 and YTD Principal reduction is $23,332. Church Mortgage Payable is $254,007, a principal reduction of $11,235.

Short Term Designated – Had a total net decrease of $95, resulting in a balance of $13,595. Receipt/Disbursement of $177 for World Hunger. Receipt of $256/Disbursement of $356 for Tiny Tiger’s Companion Day Services (Special Benevolence Project). Receipts of $5 for the Flower Account.

Sunday School - Contributions of $31.25.

Equipment Contingency/Replacement – Balance remains the same.

Building Contingency Fund – Receipts of $500 and $2,000 transfer from General Fund. Disbursement of $5,600 for two furnaces that were purchased and installed.

MSC to accept the Treasurer’s Report for the month ending November 30, 2011 and place on file. (MSC Debbie Appleyard, Tammy Neumann, all ayes)

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Steve Bartsch

Annual Report from Bishop. Companion Day Services thank you note. St. Vincent’s Outreach thank you note. Shirley’s House of Hope thank you note.

MINISTRY REPORTS

FELLOWSHIP – Michelle Stuttgen – Ice Cream Social next week.

LEARNING – Farrah Uphoff - Sunday School Christmas program will be on December 18. Starting Together in Faith program after New Year’s.

OUTREACH - Tammy Neumann – Needs approval for payment for $600 tuition of Honduran student. (All were in favor.) Gifts will be picked up on delivered to Wood County Social Services on Friday.

PROPERTY - Matt Berrier – Shelves to build a closet and doors to paint. Next project will be the garage sale at Associated Sales.

STEWARD SHIP - Debbie Appleyard – All Stewardship materials have been sent out. Would like to include a reminder about Simply Giving program for yearly offering. Time and Talent sheets should be turned in.

YOUTH - Nancy Tibbett – Bell ringing yesterday.

WORSHIP - Deb Stein – Alter care decorated for Christmas. Sharing of the peace is suspended for both Sunday and Wednesday worship services.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

1. New membership/Membership Committee –Steve will contact Patrick about taking new member photos.

2. Marketing/Fund Raising – Pizza sales coming up Saturday before the Super Bowl.

3. Steering Committee for Rummage Sale – Matt requested having Chris Tipping lead the committee and pick some people to work with her.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Fix Annual Meeting Date – January 22, 2012. Pot Luck and Good Shepherd will provide the main course. (Arby’s roast beef)

2. Finalize Year End Donation to Synod – Pastor requested sending an additional donation to the Synod at the end of the year if the budget allows. Will revisit at the January meeting.

3. Year End Ministry Report – due to Karla as soon as possible in order to include in a packet for the annual meeting.

4. Annual Budget Review – Ruth reviewed the 2012 budget with the council members.
