Church
Picnic:
Sunday, September 5th. Set-up starts
at 3:00 pm, with games and activities for all ages, pre-school through adult,
starting at 4:00 p.m., including some old-fashioned picnic games, like gunny
sack races, relays and maybe Polish softball. Dinner is at 5:30 and a movie
follows at 7:30. We will have a large tent, so the picnic is on, rain or shine.
Feel free to come early and help with set-up and give Norlyn some pointers on
barbequing (pork and burgers). Buns, condiments and soda will be provided.
Please bring lawn chairs and a dish to share. A free will offering will be
received to cover costs. If you have a favorite lawn game bring it along. The
movies will be “The Incredible Adventures of Wallace and Gromit”, “A Grand Day
Out” and “The Wrong Trousers”. If you have questions call Penny Sharp or Janice
Devine-Ruggles.
Adult Bible Study,
an8-week study titled “See Through the Scriptures” beginning Sunday, September
26th at 9:00 a.m. This is a Bible summary course intended to give an overview of
the Scripture and its message. It would be best to participate from the start of
the series but if you miss any information we will be able to fill you
in.

earlier sitting with Lifetouch Photography at Zion Lutheran in Stratford at the
end of September. Contact a committee member for

Good
Shepherd's Sunday School
program starts with Rally Sunday on
September 12th.
Children ages 4 through 6th grade are welcome to join us! We already have a
number of experienced teachers signed up for each class, but will be looking for
additional teachers so that everyone gets at least one Sunday off per month.

A
representative from Thrivent Financial
will
be at Good Shepherd to present “Parents, Teens & Money Matters”
at 9:00 am on Sunday September 19th. Learn how to talk with your teen about
money and values. .This free educational workshop, designed for parents and
their teens ages 11 to 14, can help you and your teen:
· Increase
your understanding of stewardship
· Make
intentional choices about sharing, saving and spending
money
· Talk
about money and values in your family

Quilting group
will resume meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday September 18th.
News
about landscaping!
First, the council has decided to repair grass and build a terra lock edging.
This project is ongoing. You can volunteer Tuesday evenings starting at 5:00.
Second, we have plans for fellowship areas and general landscaping to accomplish
over the next couple of summers. To fund the general landscaping ideas the
council has opened a short term designated landscaping fund to receive donations
for planting and other landscaping decorations. If you want to donate for a
plant or a tree or in general for in honor or memory of someone we are ready to
receive your gifts.

An
Offering Counter is needed:
Teams of 2 people count the offering on Sunday after the second worship service
which usually takes 30-45 minutes, you would be on a team with an experienced
counter. There are 5 teams of counters so you would be asked to count every 5th
Sunday. If you would like to volunteer please contact Cindy in the church office
at 387-2731.
Remember
to bring your used inkjet cartridges
to church and place them in the box in the church entrance. For a list of items
they take please see the list on the collection box in the church entrance.

choice is starting. You will be given an amount of money to donate to
organizations on a list, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is on that list. Watch
for a letter from Thrivent in the first or second week of August which will
explain the program and tell you how much you can donate. There is more
