Congregational Meeting to borrow building make-over money will be during the worship services, Sunday May 11. Update: The Financial Guidance Committee has made a recommendation to the council that we postpone this vote, the council has been e-mailed but no decision has been made yet.

Counting Our Chickens: The loose change collected in the month of April totaled $258.49. Since $10 provides 10 chicks to build an egg business, our contribution will purchase approx. 25 flocks through ELCA World Hunger--God's global barnyard. Thank you for your support to this ministry!

Loose change collected in the month of May will be used to purchase gas cards for donation to the Personal Development Center. With a mindfulness to the increasing gas prices, assistance with the purchase of a tank of gas can mean safety and security for their clients.

Two or Three Volunteers Needed: The Just Friends Summer Picnic will be on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wildwood Park Pavilion. Volunteers will be helping to serve and clean up. Please notify Jan Wolf at 387-6374 if you are able to help out. (FYI: Good Shepherd will be providing this event with buns and pickles-- for 150!).

Sally Rakovec & Ione Miedema are our delegates to the Synod Assembly in Eau Claire on May 30 & 31. Thank you Ione & Sally!

Special Worship Special!

This year Mother’s Day, May 11 is also Pentecost Day. We have extra plans for worship at both services. We will have special music and Patrick Zdun on trumpet at both the 8:00 and the 10:30 service.

That day is Mother’s day so I expect many of you will have guests and family around. Please bring them, we’ll show them a joyful time. It would also be cool if any of you might invite a friend

REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Federal Tax Rebates! During May and June most of us who pay federal taxes will be getting ‘Economic Stimulus’ money. It would be wise to pay down credit card debt, but after important personal priorities this money gives us freedom to be creatively generous. Community helping programs such as Soup or Socks, The Personal Development Center, Youth Net and especially any project that you are personally committed to can use a boost. This is like the class project where the teacher gives all the students $10.00 to spend for goodness sake. We don’t have to write a report afterwards, but we do live our lives in the sight of Jesus our Lord. This could be fun, enjoy!

Congregational Meeting to elect new Council members will be during the worship services Sunday May 25. Offices to be filled are President, Vice President, Learning, Youth and Fellowship.

The 2008 Nominating Committee is comprised of: Stephanie O’Brien, Erik Borreson, Pastor Peter, Dave Schneider, Lee Babcock, John Wagner & Chuck Berger. Outgoing Council members are Stephanie O’Brien, Youth Ministry Director, Chuck Berger, Learning Ministry Director, President Erik Borreson and Vice-President Ione Miedema.

Building Campaign. . .

This vision statement was adopted by the congregation

Good Shepherd’s Building Proposal

In 2008 the congregation shall undertake a building and parking lot project to include:

A 22 foot addition onto the north side of the fellowship hall with a handicap entrance and the construction of a family bathroom near the kitchen. The building maintenance will include: new siding, windows, roof and soffits, carpet, firewalls, storage throughout the building, parking lot repair and resurfacing. We propose to spend no greater than $450,000.00 for this needed building maintenance and addition.

Building Committee : The Building Committee has been meeting regularly on Sunday mornings between services. Carl J. Scott, AIA/CSI from VuePoint Architecture, LLC will be our architect and work closely with the committee. We are currently working on design development. The Council members on this committee are Bruce Tibbett and Patrick Zdun, other members who have volunteered so far are Keith Olson, Ed Raatz, Keith Stuttgen, Mark Mitchell, Laurel Peterson, Amanda Zamarripa, Jim Zdun & Chris Ignatowski. Please contact the church office if you would like to volunteer. The Building Committee minutes are posted near the kitchen.

Faith, Fellowship, Future

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.

1 Peter 4:10

Capital Campaign Committee. The Council representatives on the capital campaign committee are Sally Rakovec and Erik Borreson. Jeff Peterson and Sue Babcock have also volunteered to be on this committee.

The Capital Campaign is officially over. Watch this space for the accounting and the thanksgiving. All campaign donations will be transferred to the Building Fund. All future building contributions will be deposited to this fund and this fund will service the debt that we incur. We also have Simply Giving electronic funds transfer that you may use for regular gifting over time. A special thank-you to everyone who participated, and especially to those who continued their building fund donations in the year of no debt!

We Pray

Heavenly Father, please accept our offering here at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Bless us with all that we need to honor our past and to be faithful together as we journey into our future. Wrap us in your loving and merciful care. Fill us with your Holy Spirit that we may have joy and generosity as we prepare together this building as a renewed center for your Holy name. Inspire us as we integrate your word into our hearts and minds that we may live our lives abundantly. We ask this through the power of your Holy Spirit, creating and confirming our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. AMEN
